How do I get a YouTube transcript?
Paste a YouTube link into Audexum's YouTube transcript tool and download the video's captions as TXT, SRT or VTT. It is free and uses no credits: one transcript without an account, then 25 a day with a free account.
How do I use it?
- Open the YouTube transcript tool and paste a youtube.com, youtu.be, Shorts or Live link.
- Choose a caption language if the video has several.
- Copy the text, or download plain text (.txt), SubRip subtitles (.srt) or WebVTT (.vtt) with the video's own timestamps.
Two related pages use the same tool: YouTube to text and YouTube summary.
Which videos work, and how many can I get?
Any public video with captions, written by the uploader or auto-generated. Private, age-restricted and region-locked videos cannot be read. Manual captions are preferred over auto-generated ones.
The daily limits are 1 without an account, 25 with a free account and 500 with a paid account.
E se o vídeo não tiver legendas?
The tool reads the captions YouTube already has, so a video without them cannot be read. If you have the recording, upload it to Transcribe a file, which uses 200 credits per minute.
AI assistants can also fetch YouTube transcripts through the MCP server, also free.
